Job Overview

The Water Resources Engineer will join Veolia’s Engineering Department to design, evaluate and optimize water supply and wastewater treatment systems for municipal and industrial clients. The role involves conducting hydraulic modeling, feasibility studies, and environmental impact assessments, ensuring compliance with Egyptian regulations and international best practices. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed hydraulic and hydrologic models for water intake, conveyance, and distribution networks.
  • Perform feasibility studies and cost‑benefit analyses for new water treatment facilities and retrofits.
  • Prepare technical reports, design specifications, and construction drawings in accordance with local codes.
  • Coordinate with environmental agencies to secure permits and ensure compliance with water quality standards.
  • Support the procurement team by evaluating technical proposals and vendor qualifications.
  • Monitor construction progress, conduct site inspections, and resolve engineering issues on‑site.
  • Lead risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for climate‑related challenges.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance throughout project lifecycles.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in water resources software such as EPANET, HEC‑RAS, SWMM, and GIS tools.
  • Strong analytical abilities with a focus on data‑driven decision making.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Arabic.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in multicultural teams and manage stakeholder expectations.
  • Knowledge of Egyptian water regulations, standards, and sustainability frameworks.
  • Project management experience, including scheduling, budgeting and resource allocation.

Education

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Resources Engineering or a closely related field is required. Candidates holding a Master’s degree or professional certifications such as CWWA (Certified Water Works Analyst) or PMP (Project Management Professional) will be given preference.

Experience

Applicants must have at least five years of hands‑on experience designing and managing water supply or wastewater treatment projects of medium to large scale. Experience in desalination, water reuse, or integrated water resource management within the Egyptian context is highly desirable.

Salary
