Job Overview
As a Data Center Operations Engineer at Microsoft Egypt, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, availability, and security of our state‑of‑the‑art data center facilities. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams, including hardware engineers, network specialists, and security analysts, to monitor, troubleshoot, and improve the infrastructure that powers Microsoft Azure services for customers across the region. Key Responsibilities
- Monitor real‑time performance metrics of servers, storage, and networking equipment using Microsoft’s proprietary monitoring tools.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network incidents to minimize downtime and meet service level agreements.
- Implement and maintain preventive maintenance schedules for critical infrastructure components.
- Collaborate with security teams to enforce compliance with industry standards such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, and GDPR.
- Participate in capacity planning and scaling initiatives to support growing demand for Azure services in the region.
- Document incident reports, root‑cause analyses, and operational procedures for knowledge sharing.
- Assist in the deployment of new hardware and software releases, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.
- Provide on‑call support rotation for 24/7 data center operations.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of server hardware, virtualization technologies (Hyper‑V, VMware), and storage systems.
- Proficiency with networking concepts, including TCP/IP, routing, switching, and firewalls.
- Experience with monitoring platforms such as System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) or equivalent.
- Solid scripting abilities in PowerShell, Python, or Bash for automation tasks.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Effective communication skills in English; Arabic proficiency is a plus.
- Team‑oriented mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement.
Education
The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline. Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, Cisco CCNA, or CompTIA Server+ are advantageous but not mandatory.
Experience
Applicants should have 3 to 5 years of hands‑on experience in data center operations, cloud infrastructure management, or a similar technical environment. Prior exposure to large‑scale enterprise environments and familiarity with Microsoft Azure services will be highly valued.
Salary
