Job Overview
As a Sustainable Urban Planner at UN-Habitat, you will play a key role in promoting sustainable urban development and improving the lives of people in cities around the world. Your primary responsibility will be to work with governments, civil society, and the private sector to develop and implement policies and programs that promote sustainable urban development.
Specifically, your duties will include:
- Developing and implementing urban planning policies and programs that promote sustainable urban development;
- Working with governments, civil society, and the private sector to develop and implement sustainable urban development projects;
- Providing technical assistance and capacity-building support to governments and other stakeholders to promote sustainable urban development;
- Conducting research and analysis to identify best practices and innovative solutions for sustainable urban development;
- Developing and implementing monitoring and evaluation systems to track progress and impact of sustainable urban development projects;
- Representing UN-Habitat at international and national forums and conferences to promote sustainable urban development and advocate for the rights of urban dwellers.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Urban Planning or related field;
- At least 8 years of experience in urban planning, with a focus on sustainable urban development;
- Proven track record of developing and implementing successful urban planning policies and programs;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with governments, civil society, and the private sector;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct research and analysis to identify best practices and innovative solutions for sustainable urban development;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with a focus on delivering results and making a real difference in the world.
