Job Overview
The Smart Grid Cybersecurity Engineer will design, implement, and manage security solutions for Honeywell’s smart grid platforms, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data across the power network. Working closely with grid operators, IT teams, and product developers, you will assess threats, develop mitigation strategies, and respond to incidents in real time. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments of smart grid components, including SCADA, AMI, and DER systems.
- Develop and implement security architectures, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and encryption protocols tailored to energy networks.
- Monitor network traffic and security events using SIEM tools, providing rapid incident response and forensic analysis.
- Collaborate with product engineering teams to embed security by design into new smart grid solutions.
- Perform vulnerability scanning, penetration testing, and patch management for grid devices.
- Prepare detailed security reports, compliance documentation, and recommendations for regulatory bodies.
- Lead security awareness training for grid operators and internal staff.
- Stay updated on emerging cyber threats, industry standards (NERC CIP, IEC 62443), and best practices.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, cryptography, and network security protocols.
- Experience with power system communications, IEC 61850, DNP3, and MQTT.
- Proficiency in security tools such as Splunk, QRadar, Nessus, and Wireshark.
- Programming/scripting skills in Python, PowerShell, or Bash for automation.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Effective communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration.
- Relevant certifications (CISSP, CISM, GICSP, or equivalent) are highly desirable.
Education
A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Security, or a related discipline is required. Advanced degrees or specialized training in power system cybersecurity will be considered an advantage.
Experience
Minimum of five years of hands‑on experience in cybersecurity, preferably within the energy or utilities sector. Demonstrated experience securing industrial control systems (ICS) and smart grid technologies is essential.
Salary
The competitive salary range for this role is 150,000 – 250,000 SSP per annum, reflecting the high level of expertise required and the strategic importance of the position.
