Job Overview

The Chemical Process Engineer will join the Process Engineering team at BASF Egypt’s El Minya plant, playing a pivotal role in designing, optimizing, and scaling chemical processes that produce high‑performance materials for a variety of industries. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize chemical process designs for new and existing products, ensuring efficiency, safety, and cost‑effectiveness.
• Conduct pilot‑scale trials, analyze data, and translate findings into scalable production protocols.
• Collaborate with R&D, Production, and Quality Assurance teams to implement process improvements and troubleshoot operational issues.
• Prepare technical documentation, including process flow diagrams, heat and material balances, and standard operating procedures.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance yield, reduce waste, and lower energy consumption.
• Ensure compliance with local regulations, BASF global standards, and environmental health and safety (EHS) policies.
• Participate in risk assessments, hazard analyses, and safety audits to maintain a safe working environment.
• Support the training of production operators and junior engineers on process fundamentals and best practices.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of chemical engineering principles, process simulation tools (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, ChemCAD), and unit operations.
• Proficiency in data analysis, statistical methods, and problem‑solving techniques.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet tight deadlines.
• Familiarity with EHS regulations and a proactive safety mindset.
• Fluency in English; Arabic language skills are an advantage.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Six Sigma, PMP) are considered a strong plus and demonstrate a commitment to professional development.

Experience
