Job Overview
The Renewable Energy Project Finance Analyst will play a pivotal role in structuring, evaluating, and managing the financial aspects of Shell’s renewable energy projects in Egypt and the broader Middle East region. Reporting to the Head of Project Finance, you will collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including engineering, legal, and commercial, to ensure projects are financially viable, compliant, and aligned with Shell’s strategic objectives. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence the financing of large‑scale solar and wind farms, contributing directly to Egypt’s sustainable energy future.
As a key member of the finance team, you will be responsible for building detailed financial models, conducting sensitivity analyses, and preparing investment memoranda for senior management and external stakeholders. Your insights will guide decision‑making on capital allocation, risk mitigation, and partnership structures, ensuring that each project delivers optimal returns while adhering to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain comprehensive financial models for solar, wind, and hybrid renewable projects, incorporating capital expenditures, operating costs, revenue streams, and financing structures.
- Perform detailed cash flow analysis, debt sizing, and equity return calculations to support investment decisions.
- Prepare investment memoranda, business cases, and presentation decks for internal and external stakeholders, including senior executives, lenders, and equity partners.
- Collaborate with project development, engineering, and legal teams to gather data, assess risks, and ensure alignment with project timelines.
- Conduct scenario and sensitivity analyses to evaluate the impact of market variables such as electricity tariffs, renewable certificates, and currency fluctuations.
- Support negotiations with banks, institutional investors, and development finance institutions, ensuring optimal financing terms and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Monitor project financial performance post‑financial close, tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) and preparing variance reports.
- Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial reporting for the renewable portfolio.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, policy changes, and financing mechanisms specific to the Egyptian renewable energy market.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in financial modeling using Excel; experience with VBA or Python is a plus.
- Strong understanding of project finance structures, debt and equity instruments, and renewable energy market dynamics.
- Excellent analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
- Effective communication and presentation abilities, capable of conveying technical financial concepts to non‑technical audiences.
- Proficiency in English; Arabic language skills are advantageous.
- High level of attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Team‑oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree (MBA, MSc Finance) or professional certifications such as CFA or CPA are highly desirable and will be considered an asset.
Experience
Applicants should possess 5‑7 years of experience in project finance, preferably within the renewable energy sector. Experience with large‑scale solar or wind projects, familiarity with Egyptian regulatory frameworks, and prior exposure to international financing institutions will strengthen your application.
Salary
The annual compensation package ranges from 180,000 to 250,000 SSP, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, pension contributions, and other employee benefits.
