Job Overview
The Robotics Systems Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and integrating robotic solutions that enhance productivity, precision, and safety in ABB’s manufacturing and client projects. This role involves close collaboration with cross‑functional teams, including mechanical designers, software developers, and project managers, to deliver end‑to‑end automation systems that meet stringent performance and reliability standards. Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop robotic cell layouts, including mechanical integration, sensor placement, and safety enclosures.
- Program and configure industrial robots using ABB’s RAPID language and associated software tools.
- Collaborate with electrical engineers to design power distribution, I/O modules, and communication networks for robot integration.
- Conduct feasibility studies, cost‑benefit analyses, and risk assessments for new automation projects.
- Perform system simulations, kinematic analyses, and performance testing to validate design specifications.
- Provide technical support during installation, commissioning, and post‑deployment phases.
- Develop detailed documentation, including engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and user manuals.
- Stay updated with emerging robotics technologies, standards, and best practices to continuously improve solutions.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in robot programming (RAPID, KRL, or equivalent) and motion control.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical design, CAD tools (SolidWorks, CATIA) and 3D modeling.
- Experience with PLC programming, industrial networking (EtherNet/IP, Profinet) and HMI development.
- Solid understanding of safety standards (ISO 10218, IEC 61508) and risk assessment methodologies.
- Analytical mindset with ability to troubleshoot complex integration issues.
- Excellent communication skills for interfacing with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Project management capabilities, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or a closely related discipline is required. Advanced degrees or certifications in robotics, control systems, or industrial automation are highly desirable and will be considered an asset during the selection process.
Experience
Applicants must have a minimum of five years of hands‑on experience designing, programming, and deploying industrial robotic solutions in manufacturing or related sectors. Demonstrated experience with ABB robot platforms, as well as a proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget, will be given priority.
Salary
